Improve your vision. Improve your quality of life.

If you are experiencing cloudy or blurry vision, you may have a common eye condition known as cataracts. At Medical Vision Institute, we understand that cataracts can be frustrating, but we have good news for you! This condition is treatable! Cataract surgery is safe and effective, and your concern about your diagnosis could turn into excitement once you have a consultation with us!

What are cataracts?

A cataract is a clouding of the lens inside your eye. Cataracts usually develop slowly as a person ages, and over time, they will interfere with your vision. For people who have cataracts, seeing through cloudy lenses is a bit like looking through a dirty window. This can make it more difficult to read, see the details on a friend's face, or even drive a car.

Symptoms

The most common symptom of cataracts is a slow and painless decrease in vision. Other symptoms include:

  • An overall blurring or clouding of vision
  • Seeing halos around lights and/or being sensitive to glare making it difficult to drive at night
  • Frequent eyeglass prescription changes
  • Colors appear dull or yellowed and lack contrast
  • “Ghost” images or double vision

Doctor Dudee is the most amazing doctor. My vision has been restored to nearly the same as when I was in my 20s. Not bad for a 65 year old man. Nearly 20/15. Amazing what he can do.

Christopher Ingram

Excellent place with courteous and amazing staff. Most efficient Doctors office I have ever been in. The staff was extremely friendly and open with my concerns. They took their time and I truly got the sense that they were interested in their work as well as patient care. One tech had a concern about my eyes and quickly asked for a second opinion, didn’t have to wait. The doctor was amazing and really seemed to pay attention to the details and explained things very well. Overall everything was great; in and out in a timely manner. Definitely would recommend to everyone.

Our Surgery Process

Cataract surgery is one of the most commonly performed surgeries in the United States. It is a very safe procedure with a high rate of success.

Any type of surgery carries risks, but at Medical Vision Institute, you can rest assured that you are in good hands. Dr. Dudee will discuss the details of these risks and the benefits in detail with you during a thorough cataract examination prior to surgery. Our patients generally experience very little downtime, and vision is typically noticeably improved by the next day and continues to improve for several weeks. The majority of our patients are back to their regular activities within 24-48 hours after their procedure.

Commonly Asked Questions

A: While there are risks associated with any surgery, cataract surgery is one of the safest surgical procedures. Millions of cataract surgeries are performed each year and the success rate is very high.

A: Cataracts are removed any time when they interfere with your vision. They don’t need to be “ripe” or severe, and waiting until cataracts become hard or dense can make surgery more complex and recovery time longer.

A: Cataract surgery is a relatively quick procedure. The surgery itself usually takes less than 30 minutes and is outpatient!

A: You should not experience pain in your eye following cataract surgery, however, a mild brow ache and scratchiness is common. Many patients have noticeably improved vision by the next day which continues to improve for several weeks. The majority of our patients are back to their regular activities within 24-48 hours after the procedure.

A: Medical Vision Institute is proud to use the most advanced technology available. A small incision is made in the surface of the eye. Then, state-of-the-art techniques are used to remove the cloudy lens and an artificial lens is implanted. The incision made is even smaller than an eyelash and begins healing immediately.

A: Usually, your medical insurance will cover basic cataract surgery, anesthesia, and facility fees. We may also find that you are a candidate for Cataracts Plus–our premium options that reduce your dependency on bifocals or contact lenses! Insurance does not cover premium options, but the cost is often less than LASIK eye surgery or replacing bifocals every few years.
